Buttercup Cow
Just a cow, in a field, with the sun beaming down on her. But this cow is covered with intricate, zen-tangle inspired, designs worked in overlay mosaic crochet! An optional border is also included in the pattern.
On purchasing this pattern, you will be able to download the PDF files - the pattern in written format (please note the pattern is written in English only), is available in both US and UK Terminology. There are also separate PDFs that includes the charts for both versions of the pattern in 1-, 6-, and 12-page formats.
The finished blanket (without the optional border) is 228 stitches wide and has 252 rows. The pattern for the optional border consists of 7 rows.
Any yarn weight can be used to make Buttercup Cow, the pattern has been tested using fingering and worsted weight yarns.
If using fingering weight yarn (tested using Garnmanufaktur Lola yarn; quantities required will differ depending on which yarn brand you choose) – you will need a total of approximately 807 grams (30 ounces) or 3027 metres (3311 yards), including the optional border
Main colour – 380 grams (14 ounces) or 1425 metres (1559 yards)
Contrast colour – 427 grams (16 ounces) or 1602 metres (1752 yards)
Worsted weight yarn (tested using Red Heart yarn) - 2230 grams (80 ounces) or 3751 metres (4100 yards)

- With fingering weight yarn, using a 3.00mm (size D; No. 10/11) crochet hook, the blanket will measure approximately 94cm x 98cm (38 x 39 inches) without the optional border. With the border, the blanket will measure approximately 97cm x 104cm (39 x 41 inches) With worsted weight yarn, using a 5.00mm (size H; No. 6) crochet hook, the blanket will measure approximately 168cm x 188cm (66 x 74 inches) without the optional border. Crochet Hook Cottage
Hi and welcome to Crochet Hook Cottage!
I'm Jodie, the yarn witch who works the design magic here at Crochet Hook Cottage in Perth, Western Australia. Crocheting is my passion, I was taught how to crochet in 1979 by my Nana, and have been hooking away ever since! I began Crochet Hook Cottage in 2019, after losing my job due to health complications as a result of breast cancer treatments. I needed some way to bring in some extra money to pay for food, bills and the mortgage, so when a friend told me I should try selling the items I crocheted the business was born and I opened an Etsy shop. I began designing my own crochet patterns that same year, and there are many more of those to come.
I love designing patterns that have a picture, mainly mosaic, and tapestry crochet, and I hope you love my patterns too!
